Fusarium oxysporum is an ascomycete fungus, which many strains within the F. oxysporum complex are pathogenic to plants, especially in agricultural settings. F. oxysporum is not discriminating, they can cause disease in nearly every agriculturally important plant. While collectively, plant pathogenic F. oxysporum strains have a broad host range, individual isolates usually cause disease only in a narrow range of plant species.

It is one of the most common oral species isolated from extra-oral infections, including blood, brain, chest, lung, liver, joint, abdominal, obstetrical and gynecological infections and abscesses.

Also known as Pasteurella anatis, cause zoonotic infections in humans that manifest themselves as skin or soft tissue infections after an animal bite. This species is a pathogen of poultry. The species Gallibacterium anatis is of particular interest in veterinary medicine because it infects the reproductive organs of laying hens, reducing egg production.

GaHV-2 is responsible for Marek’s disease, a highly contagious viral neoplastic disease in chickens. Infection usually occurs through ingestion of G. intestinalis cysts in water (including both unfiltered drinking water and recreational waters) or food contaminated by the feces of infected humans or animals. G. intestinalis infects humans, but it is also one of the most common parasites infecting cats, dogs and birds. Mammalian hosts also include cattle, beavers, deer, and sheep.

Giardia is a flagellated protozoon that causes enteric infection giardiasis in dogs and occasionally cats, reptiles, and humans; it is a condition of significant zoonotic concern. Signs vary from acute to chronic or intermittent diarrhea. Transmission is via cysts that are shed in the feces or water.
