Porcine circovirus is a circular single-stranded DNA, a non-enveloped virus belonging to Circoviridae family. There are 2 strains of the virus: type 1 and type 2. PCV1 readily infects but doesn’t produce clinical disease, suggesting that PCV1 is non-pathogenic.
